Video: Bobo, Pruitt address Bulldogs’ preseason goals

By Chip Towers

ATHENS – Georgia players will report for preseason camp on Thursday night and the Bulldogs will hit Woodruff Practice Fields for their first practice of the 2014 football season on Friday afternoon. In anticipation of that UGA’s two coordinators — Mike Bobo on offense and Jeremy Pruitt on defense — were made available to beat reporters briefly on Wednesday to answer questions about their upcoming goals and objectives. Following are short video of each coaches’ opening remarks.

I think it is great! Every year are OL is pretty much set in stone going into fall camp, that is the problem! Why not make them compete? See who really wants it!! Sounds like BoBo might be taking some lessons from Pruitt, hell who knows, might help. I'm more worried about are special teams then are defense. I'm glad Matthews, Clemons, Taylor, Wiggins, Lemay, are gone. Less BS the team has to deal with and also it shows there hearts and minds really wasn't in it.

the O-line is undecided

10 players already in trouble before the season

on the bright side at least we have a new defensive coordinator

@TylerMcClure  Yes, I did not understand that opening statement, either, Tyler.  Mike Bobo mumbles into the mic :

" I do not have any concerns going into the season. "

(1) # 53 nation 3rd Down Conversions with All-Time SEC Leading QB & Todd Gurley II

(2) Lost 3 Starting OL, Starting Blocking TE from that # 53 3rd Down Conversion squad

(3) No effort made by any of Special Teams' Coaches say need to practice them G-Day

(4) Secondary is poor, and no depth

(5) Play all these 9 games we'd have to win vs great teams to be "Championship Team"

(6) Richt/Bobo dropped-off from what they were doing when they 1st got here

(7) 11 Arrests/Suspensions 2014 already "I don't have any concerns" he starts out video

(8) # 65 in nation in rushing the ball

@FlatTire I actually think the O-line being "undecided" is a good thing. Don't you want competition during fall camp? I sure do. Nothing should ever be "set" before fall camp begins. If you believe otherwise, then you've never played a down of football in your life. In fact, I hope our entire starting lineup is undecided as of right now. You will earn your keep in fall camp. The best will play.

10 players? The only ones I can think of (who are still on the team) are James DeLoach and Davin Bellamy. DeLoach won't miss any playing time. I don't mind myself with those no longer on the team. They're not Bulldogs, they don't matter.

@ThomasBrown

Thomas,

You dwell and live in the past too much.  I know you're a great Bulldog fan who wants success but let's give Pruitt and company a chance these next couple of seasons before starting this season with so much bitching and griping...the past is the past.

@DawgGoneIt so not knowing who your starters are is a good thing?

ever heard of team chemistry?

great excuse

you can still have competition knowing who your starters are.

@DawgGoneIt  There are always people that aren't happy unless they're focusing on the negative, true?

Clueless one most of these linemen have been playing together for 2+ years.

@Saldiven

What are you focusing on ?

Certainly not our 54-26 after 2007.

Certainly not 11 arrests/suspensions 2014.

So, what pray tell Saldiven ?

@Saldiven  The word is incorrigible.  It is just a plain fact that some people, who I will not name, will always focus on the negative.  They are addicted to it as surely as an alcoholic is addicted to booze.  They can't think of life any other way.  Ignore them.  If a troll agrees with their negative slants, you know something is way off.  I just laugh.  It's like the person you know will always have something completely inappropriate to say at a meeting or a social gathering.  They can't help it and you can't stop it.  So you just laugh and shake your head.

FlatTire

@Saldiven  the only negative is weve had an O-line that hasn't been good since 2005

and here we are with the season about to start with no idea whose going to be on the line

@Dawgilama  I wonder how that escaped his notice?  Could it be the blinders called eternal pessimism?  lol

@Dawgilama

after years of coaching we are just now learning the importance of competition for starting jobs?

Did it take Pruitt to teach this philosophy?

FlatTire

@Dawgilama most of the linemen werent starters last year.  3 of the starters from last years team are no longer playing for UGA

@DawginCO @Saldiven Good lord that whole post was inappropriate. I wish i had never read it, CO you can post some of the most nauseating things i have ever tried to read. You are just a little on the arrogant side because if anyone goes against the G, you want to try and put them down. You're kind of a snob huh?

@FlatTire @Saldiven Flat we may not have been great on the line since 05 but we won 2 East crowns and came within a play of playing for the MNC so how bad could we have been? Also I'm willing to bet the coaches have a very good idea of who the starters are going to be, but will use fall camp to PROVE they have the right guys in the starter roles. Starters that have proven they are the best 5 , not the best looking ,the biggest etc but the best football players. Lets just sit back and watch in unfold or if you just have to have a more hands on approach grab a helmet and head to Athens.

Why worry about the O-line??? Scoring points has never been a problem under Richt and Bobo. If we had a good defense during those years, we may have a couple of Nattys. Offense is not Georgia's issue. Pruitt will have us in contention for a title this year, because our D will be much improved.

 or could it be the blinders of kool-aid drinking

2012, Georgia gave up 29 sacks, ranking it ninth in the SEC in pass protection.
2011, Georgia gave up 33 sacks, ranking eighth in the SEC and 85th nationally.
2010, Georgia gave up 24 sacks, ranking seventh in the SEC and 62nd nationally.”

@FlatTire @Dawgilama Why don't you take a look at 2013  spring  depth  chart , it  will answer  your won stupid  question.

@FlatTire @Dawgilama They have  played  and practiced  together  for 2-3  years.Kublanow played in 9 game , Dantzler 13 and Beard  13 . You're  one  of the most  clueless  people  who post  on here . Your  football IQ is  very low.Did you ever play a  down of  college  ball? Would you know  what you seeing when you're  watching?

You think all sacks  fall on the  Oline? You fail to mention in 2013  only 21 sacks.

DawginCO

@gtcaryd It's nauseating to you because it makes total sense.  And as far as arrogance is concerned, there is a big difference between being sure of yourself and being arrogant.  You think I'm arrogant and I really don't care.  You post trite BS most of the time so I suppose someone who posts something with some thought and feeling behind it makes you feel small.  Not my problem.  I am what I am and you can just puke away.  BTW, the solution would be to quit the Bulldog themed blogs and stick with the bumbly bee blogs.  You won't ever see me there. lol

@WDE

Of course Murray was the blame for everything even though he constantly had to make quick decisions which led to turnovers that had he had good protection wouldnt have happened

How did Bama's QB look last year when he didnt have that stellar 2011 2012 O-line?

FlatTire

@WDE "I'm willing to bet the coaches have a very good idea of who the starters are going to be"

Those same coaches last year said the O-line was going to be the strength of the 2013 team

Big DAWG Fan : Scoring Points has never been a problem under Mark Richt ?

Why then does the OTHER TEAM score MORE POINTS than us in 26 games and us more only in 54 games after 2007 ?

Because the OL has been poor, because we run a high-risk turnover prone offense which relies on the defense to bail them out, when we're in fact # 53 in the nation in 3rd Down Conversions ?
