As Mark Richt gets his 14th season as Georgia’s football coach under way this week at the SEC Media Days, you carries another title with him to Birmingham.
Just call him Grandpa.
The latest addition to the Bulldogs’ first family is Jadyn Elise Richt, born to Mark Richt’s oldest son, Jon Richt, and his wife Anna last Wednesday.
Richt hasn’t commented yet on becoming a first-time grandfather at 54. But, as you might imagine, the whole affair has played out rather publicly over social media.

Georgia quarterback Hutson Mason is working out with the best of the best at the Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux, La., this week. But that hardly puts him in exclusive company.
Seems like every quarterback worth their weight in salt nowadays attends the camp of the famous quarterback family, Archie, Payton and Eli Manning. ATHENS — Georgia quarterback Hutson Mason on Friday updated reporters on the Bulldogs’ progress during spring practice. Georgia completed its sixth of 15 practices on Friday and will hold a controlled, game-simulation scrimmage on Saturday at Sanford Stadium. The scrimmage is closed to reporters and to the public.

Georgia has apparently come forth with a late offer for a South Florida athlete. But unlike a lot of times when that happens, this kid isn’t marginal as a recruiting prospect.
Wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie (5-8, 175) is a 4-star prospect out of American Heritage High in Plantation, Fla. You may have heard of his teammate — 5-star running back and UGA commitment Sony Michel.
