Ten@10: All 5 Georgia tailbacks will play against Clemson

  • 9:55 am Tuesday, August 26th, 2014 by Chip Towers

THE TEN AT 10:

1. Georgia’s ballyhooed freshman tailbacks Nick Chubb and Sony Michel will both play against Clemson this Saturday. How many actual rushing attempts they get – if any – remains to be seen.

Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, echoing what running backs coach Bryan McClendon said on 680 the Fan’s “Bulldog Roundtable” radio show this past Friday, confirmed that all five scholarship tailbacks in Georgia’s offensive arsenal will get playing time in the opener.

“The game will dictate touches and plays,” Bobo said. “That’s really at any skill position. All five are doing well but we’ll know more (closer to the [More]

Ten@10: Merritt Hall’s injury creates shake-up at fullback

  • 9:57 am Tuesday, August 12th, 2014 by Chip Towers

THE TEN AT 10:

1. Georgia’s fullback situation is starting to get real interesting.

Junior Merritt Hall is the undisputed starter at that position and his unique abilities there is what allowed the Bulldogs to develop an H-back/tight end role for Quayvon Hicks. A former walkon out of the Wesleyan School in Peachtree Corners, Hall has played in 25 games at Georgia with seven starts.

But Hall is suddenly sidelined, and while it may have seemed like small, insignificant injury news when it first appeared on Monday, there are indications Hall could be out for an extended period.

Georgia has not said what the [More]

Ten@10: Once again, injuries becoming part of Bulldogs’ storyline

  • 9:49 am Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 by Chip Towers

THE TEN AT 10:

1. Georgia is just four days into preseason camp and injuries are starting to become part of the 2014 storyline. The latest name added to the list is Shattle Fenteng.

Fenteng, a junior college transfer from Hutchinson Community College, was having his shoulder and arm attended to by head trainer Ron Courson early in Monday’s practice before leaving Woodruff Practice Fields for the day. UGA was unable to supply an injury update after the 90-minute workout and the hope is that there will be one at some point Tuesday.

UPDATE: Defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt says Fenteng’s injury [More]

Ten@10: Sports psychologist helps Bulldogs through long rehabs

  • 9:58 am Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014 by Chip Towers

I’m actually on vacation this week, as well as half of the civilized world as it appears to me. But I didn’t want to deprive anyone of their fundamental right to read “The Ten at 10.” So I slapped this together. Hope you enjoy, and happy Independence Day everyone! …

THE TEN AT 10:

1. Hope you got a chance to read the feature story I wrote recently on tight end Jay Rome. The junior from Valdosta finally appears to be close to healthy and he predicted he would be ready to play on Aug. 31 against Clemson. With the [More]

Ten@10: ‘229 Boys’ back in the fold for Georgia offense

  • 9:54 am Wednesday, June 18th, 2014 by Chip Towers

THE TEN AT 10

1. Word coming out of Georgia’s football complex is that the Bulldogs’ “229 Boys” – Malcolm Mitchell, Jay Rome and Justin Scott-Wesley – have progressed nicely in their rehabilitations from leg injuries and are now working out full speed with the rest of the team in summer conditioning and practices. This is good news and, if it holds true through preseason camp, is a big deal for the Bulldogs’ offensive fortunes in 2014.

High offensive production has been almost taken for granted the past couple of seasons under the direction of quarterback Aaron Murray. Now it’s Hutson Mason’s [More]

Ten@10: Signees report to UGA as summer football workouts begin

  • 9:58 am Tuesday, June 10th, 2014 by Chip Towers

THE TEN AT 10:

1. Believe it or not, there are only 81 days until Georgia kicks off the 2014 football season against the Clemson Tigers at Sanford Stadium. For the Bulldogs, preparations are already well under way.

Sixteen of Georgia’s 20 signees moved into the Oglethorpe House dormitory and enrolled in summer-school classes last week. That group will join the returning players for summer workouts and conditioning later this week.

So where are the four other signees, you might ask? Well, they’re either already in Athens, are on their way, or are not coming.

Quarterback Jacob Park enrolled in January and wide receiver [More]

THE TEN AT 10

ATHENS – After a long hiatus, “The Ten at 10″ is back. No fooling.

The Ten is an aggregation blog that was developed to keep Georgia Bulldogs’ fans informed about everything that’s going on in UGA athletics during the warm months. We all live for football in the fall and basketball during the winter, but when this time of year comes around, you need 10 items just to get around to everything that’s going on. As ever, there are a ton of things happening on Georgia’s athletic grounds.

Of course, spring football tops that list. So with that, let’s [More]
