HOOVER, Ala. – Over the past three days, 24 players, eight coaches and six administrators have taken their turns on the podiums in the grand ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Wynfrey Hotel. On Thursday morning we’ll finally get to hear from coach Mark Richt and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Georgia is the 11th of the SEC’s 14 teams to stand before the microphones and cameras at SEC Football Media Days. Richt will be accompanied by wide receiver Chris Conley, linebacker Ramik Wilson and tailback Todd Gurley.
Ole Miss, Alabama and Kentucky, in that order, will round out what has been a record week [More]

ATHENS – Kevin Sherrer is an Alabama man through and through. He was born in Oneonta, Ala., starred as a tight end at Cleveland (Ala.) High, played that position at the University of Alabama (1993-95) and was a grad assistant for the Crimson Tide. Since then he coached at two Alabama high schools, then was the director of player development at Bama before serving last year as the defensive coordinator at South Alabama.
So while he’s moved a bunch the last 18 years, he hasn’t ventured across the state line very much until now. Sherrer came east to join his old [More]

ATHENS – The Georgia Bulldogs open spring practice one week from today. When they do, all eyes are going to be on the defensive side of the ball.
Defense — along with a ridiculous number of injuries — is why Georgia lost five games last season. And for the first time in 50 years, the Bulldogs will be entering a spring with a totally new defensive coaching staff.
Georgia got more than a little fortunate when it landed Jeremy Pruitt from Florida State to coordinate the defense. Not only did the Seminoles win the national championship, but they also led the nation [More]

ATHENS – Todd Grantham was rather infamously introduced at Louisville as the new defensive coordinator on Thursday and the Washington Redskins announced that Kirk Olivadotti had been hired as inside linebackers. But if you’ve been paying attention like me, you may have noticed that Chris Wilson has yet to be named the new defensive line coach at Southern Cal.
There’s a reason for that. According to sources familiar with Wilson’s dealings with the Trojans and their new head coach Steve Sarkisian, Wilson is wavering. And who could blame him? That’s a long, long way [More]

MONDAY MORNING REWIND
ATHENS — How was your weekend? Georgia’s was a little busy.
Of course, Todd Grantham’s departure for Louisville dominated the news, and rightly so. I have to admit, it’s something I didn’t see coming. Coach Mark Richt had spoken convincingly at the end of the season of the need for continuity on defense, with 10 starters returning on that side of the ball next year. Then we had the resignation of secondary Scott Lakatos on Thursday and Grantham’s acceptance of Louisville’s rich offer sometime between Saturday and Sunday.
So now we’re left with the chicken-and-the-egg question. Is this something that [More]
