ATHENS – The University of Georgia on Wednesday announced a two-year contract extension for men’s basketball coach Mark Fox. That means it will expire at the end of the 2017-18 season.
Fox’s fifth Georgia team went 20-14 this past season and finished in a tie for second place in the SEC with a 12-6. Fox has an overall record of 85-77 and an SEC record of 40-44 heading into his sixth season.

ATHENS – Georgia takes on Vermont in a few hours in an National Invitation Tournament first-round game at Stegeman Coliseum. The game is scheduled to tip off at 8 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU. Here’s a few things to think about as the No. 2 seeded Bulldogs go for their 20th victory against their visitors from the America East Conference.

ATHENS – Ever since Georgia’s 71-56 win over Missouri on Tuesday night, I’ve had a lot of people asking if I thought the Bulldogs had a chance to get into the NCAA Tournament. They do, but it’s the longest of long shots.
Georgia is 16-11 overall and 10-5 in the SEC with three regular-season games and the SEC Tournament left to play.
