Bulldogs’ Gurley provides jolt of star power for SEC Media Days

HOOVER, Ala. – Over the past three days, 24 players, eight coaches and six administrators have taken their turns on the podiums in the grand ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Wynfrey Hotel. On Thursday morning we’ll finally get to hear from coach Mark Richt and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Georgia is the 11th of the SEC’s 14 teams to stand before the microphones and cameras at SEC Football Media Days. Richt will be accompanied by wide receiver Chris Conley, linebacker Ramik Wilson and tailback Todd Gurley.

Skateboarding down Sunset Strip a good idea for Todd Gurley?

It might not be that big of a deal to some people, and certainly isn’t to Todd Gurley. But personally I found it a little alarming that Georgia’s star tailback, a Heisman Trophy candidate this coming season and a likely Top 10 NFL Draft pick a year from now, is spending his down time this month skateboarding down Sunset Strip and hanging off balconies in Hollywood, Calif.

ATHENS – Georgia’s J.J. Green is one of those delightful young men you simply enjoy running across every now and then in this business.

College football and the entitlement and idolatry that comes with it can sometimes rob these elite athletes of their joy, or at least that which they reveal to reporters. That’s definitely not the case with Green.

It’s evident that he is simply happy to be where he is and doing what he does. At the moment that’s play defensive back for the Bulldogs.
